Okay first up isn't a quilt but an S-hook that I made at Shrewsbury Faire last year in Oregon. The blacksmith showed me how to make it, and now I'm hooked on smithing. I hope to have my own set up soon.
Lap Quilts
There are more quilts than what is posted here I will be adding them when I uncover the pictures. In which case this page will probably be broken up into multiple pages since there are 5 baby quilts, 2 twin, and 2 queen (that I can think of) to be added.
Fall themed
This is fall themed quilt. It is about 48" x 60" and is backed with green fleece.
Quilt pattern: Childs play. Started 2004 -finished 2005
Halloween themed.
Quilt pattern: Childs play
Size: ~48"x60". it is the same size as the fall themed one. This one isn't quilted yet but will have a med batting and a bright orange fabric with spiderwebs for the backing. This picture is very muted the non-black colors are actually quite bright.
Scott's extra large lap
Pattern: Corn and Beans (???? I think)
Size: almost a queen but not large enough for the bed. Hence it is a lap blanket.
This top was given to my Husband, Scott, for Christmas 2005. I started sewing it right after Thanksgiving and had all but 8 blocks finished and an additional 16 blocks finished but not sewn on. This was my first experiment with a scrappy looking quilt. I figured out what colors I wanted to go in each section of the block and them went and picked out as many fabrics of that color as were in the block (for example if the patterned called for a piece to be used 4 times then I picked out at least 4 different fabrics.) and except for the blues no fabric repeats in a block nor in the corners where the blocks join. It still isn't quilted together but I have a med-heavy batting and a book fabric for the back.
Twin Size
Grandma's quilt
This one was given to my Grandma S. for Christmas 2005. It has a medium thicknes batting. I've always loved the Christmas roses fabric that is the focus but didn't have enough to make the boarder so I picked the green fabric instead. I must have had it in stash for years before making this quilt. The floral flannel used to back the quilt is also used as the binding. Quilt pattern: Childs playquilt detail
Grandpa's quilt
This one was given to Grandpa S. for Christmas 2005 and hangs in his room. I fell in love with the train fabric when I saw it and knew that it had to go into a quilt for him. I ran out of the fabric while doing the boarder so I pieced together 9-patch squares to match the design and installed those. I think it turned out fabulous. Since this quilt hangs I used a very thin batting and the backing is a night sky with yellow stars. The backing fabric is also used as the binding Quilt pattern: modifed King's Highway quilt detail
