Hail and well-met, traveller!
Your face is new and your manner strange to us. Do you come from a far off land? No great matter, we welcome all in our village. Come ye and sit by the warmth of our hearth, share a tale if you have one, or listen to one of mine if you do not. This is our village, this is our hearth, Saint Brigid is our patron saint and in her name we bid you welcome.
It is a time of celebration in our shire, when the summertime draws to a close and the tears of Saint Lawrence streak across the heavens. Like our beloved Saint Brigid, he was a champion of those whose shirts bear no lace, and whose pockets hold little coin, so we celebrate his feast day during our annual feastday and market faire.
As you wander the marketplace and sample the wares of the visiting merchants, be sure to visit the inn yonder and sample the brew, for Saint Brigid is also the patron of brewers and the tales tell that even her bathwater became beer to slake the thirst of visiting bishops. (Methinks she might also be patron saint of practical jokers withal).
If you encounter one of our villagers on the path, stop and pass the time of day. I bid you fair warning, stranger, there be rogues and bawdy wenches about. The market brings them and shire be thick with them, so remember to make a generous donation to the local sheriff who keeps you safe this day.
Good day and let us know if there is aught we can do to make your day at our faire more enjoyable!
